Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
Why Bookmarked values your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.
What We Collect
- Local Data: Bookmarks and notes are saved locally on your device using IndexedDB. We do not have access to this data unless you choose to enable Cloud Sync.
- Cloud Data (Optional): If you sign in via Google, your bookmarks and notes are synced to your private Firebase account to allow cross-device access.
- Identity Data: We collect your Google email and UID only if you sign in to sync your data.
How We Use Data
- AI Insights: Your notes and page information (URL/Title) are transmitted to our secure API for generating insights. We use the Groq Cloud API (Llama 3.1 models) for this processing. Your data is processed but not used for model training.
- Cloud Syncing: We use Google Firebase to securely store and synchronize your bookmarks across your logged-in devices.
- Payments: We use Paddle as our Merchant of Record. Payment data is handled securely by Paddle.
Data Sharing & Security
- We do not sell your personal data. Data is only shared with our infrastructure providers (Google Firebase for storage, Groq for transient AI processing, Paddle for billing) to the extent necessary to provide the service.
- We use industry-standard encryption protocols (HTTPS/SSL) for all data in transit.
Your Rights
- You can delete your local or cloud data at any time from within the extension.
- You can choose not to provide personal notes, as the extension allows saving without them.
